A pastoral care area consists of a pastoral center where the pastoral team is reliably accessible and offers a diverse, comprehensive range of church life (Eucharist, administration of the sacraments, liturgical diversity), as well as many reliable venues supported by full-time or volunteer staff. These can include churches, daycare centers, schools, social service organizations, associations, etc.
The Waldeck pastoral care region in the Archdiocese of Paderborn is a predominantly rural area with widely scattered parishes and a comparatively low density of Catholic residents. The region is characterized by major tourist destinations, particularly around Lake Eder and Willingen. In addition, the healthcare sector—with its spa and rehabilitation facilities as well as clinics, particularly in Bad Wildungen—plays an important role in regional development and the Church’s outreach. The Waldeck Pastoral Care Region encompasses the pastoral areas of Bad Arolsen, Bad Wildungen–Waldeck, and Korbach.
