The regional church’s social media channels. The press office advises church districts, congregations, and institutions on their communication and media relations when dealing with challenging issues and in crisis situations.
Your Responsibilities
- The position involves serving as spokesperson for the regional bishop and the regional synod, as well as managing the regional church’s press office.
- The press office responds to inquiries from journalists and arranges interviews with appropriate contacts (m/f/d). It informs secular and church media about press and public relations-related events, topics, and positions of the constitutional bodies—the Regional Synod and the Regional Church Council—which the Regional Bishop and the Synod President represent to the outside world. It prepares information about church life for presentation in the media. It also disseminates spiritual content and addresses fundamental questions of faith and the church. This is done through various media formats (text, images, audio, video), which are either
- Professional and disciplinary oversight of the Press Office
- Support for synod work
- Maintaining contacts with (freelance) journalists as well as the editorial departments of professional public media outlets (B2B)
- Production and distribution of social media content (B2C)
- Crisis communication
- Coordination and responsibility for content in joint publications and statements with other churches and
- government organizations
- Advising and supporting senior regional church committees and institutions regarding their communication and public relations
- Conducting press conferences and media events
- Responding to media inquiries and other correspondence relevant to public relations
- Strategic development of the regional church’s communications, as well as the design and further development of the regional church’s media channels

- A completed degree in a relevant field and/or theology
- Broad journalistic knowledge as well as a basic understanding of communication and public relations in the public sphere
- Several years of professional experience in the media sector, ideally within the Evangelical Regional Church in Württemberg
- We generally require membership in a member church of the Evangelical Church in Germany
