The Heinz Sielmann Foundation was established as a public foundation under civil law by Prof. Heinz and Mrs. Inge Sielmann and has been active for over 30 years in numerous projects aimed at creating habitats. It is a private foundation and pursues exclusively charitable purposes. Preserving habitats for endangered animal and plant species is one of the primary goals of today’s conservation efforts. Every year, new valuable habitats are added. “Nothing leaves a deeper impression than a personal experience in the great outdoors.” True to these words of our founder, Prof. Heinz Sielmann, the foundation also ensures, through its nationwide environmental and nature conservation projects, that people can experience nature. Children and young people in particular are given the opportunity to experience nature so that they can learn to appreciate its value at an early age.
Your Key Responsibilities
Project Management (grant applications, project implementation, and financial reporting)
Independent planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of educational events
Overseeing and further developing other event formats, such as seminars, field trips, and training sessions for outreach coordinators
Interacting with and assisting visitors to the Nature Discovery Center
Maintaining contact with schools, daycare centers, and clubs in the Niederlausitzer Landrücken Nature Park, as well as recruiting new cooperation partners
Creating informational and educational materials
Assisting with press and public relations work
Maintaining and further developing the nature experience and environmental education areas at the Nature Experience Center
Your Profile
A successfully completed college degree in the natural sciences, education, or a comparable field, along with experience in biology, ecology, nature conservation, or environmental education
Relevant experience in environmental education / ESD and expertise in experiential education with children and adolescents
Strong interpersonal skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to motivate children and groups of adults
Ability to work independently, as well as strong organizational and teamwork skills
Proficiency in MS Office
Fluency in spoken and written German and English
Willingness to work flexible hours at the location (including work on weekends and holidays)
Commitment to the work of the Heinz Sielmann Foundation
Class B driver’s license
