The Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Hanover is the largest regional church within the Evangelical Church in Germany. It has approximately 2.1 million members, works together with the other Protestant churches in Lower Saxony to shape church life for the people of Lower Saxony, and actively participates in social debates.
The regional church is part of the Confederation of Evangelical Churches in Lower Saxony, which represents the churches’ interests and carries out their responsibilities vis-à-vis the state in accordance with the Loccum Treaty.
