The University of Passau is synonymous with excellent research and innovative teaching. Approximately 10,200 students are enrolled at this internationally oriented university, which is characterized by its cosmopolitan spirit and diversity; together with doctoral candidates, a total of approximately 11,000 young people from over 100 nations study and conduct research here. Strategic Communication:
The project group analyzes the urban, sociocultural, and infrastructural fabric of the Passau region, with a particular focus on sustainable urban development, mobility, education, democracy, and sustainability. On the one hand, the work focuses on creating new educational and social spaces with a transformative character for the Passau region. On the other hand, as part of the project, we aim to identify teaching and learning structures that empower students at the University of Passau to think and act transformatively from the very beginning. Strategic Communication:
Developing and implementing a communication and media strategy throughout the project’s duration
Selecting appropriate communication channels
Public Relations:
Organizing project PR: planning and executing press releases and campaigns; managing event communications; maintaining media contacts
Social Media Management: Setting up and managing social media channels
Developing and maintaining the project website; search engine optimization (SEO)
Planning the project’s visual identity in collaboration with the graphics department (print and digital)
Science Communication:
Supporting storytelling (narratives) within the project
Communicating project results in a manner tailored to the target audience
Visually presenting complex content in collaboration with the graphics department
Internal Project Communication
Oversee and organize internal knowledge transfer within the project
Design internal information and communication formats
Contribute to reporting and documentation
Your Profile
A completed university degree (Bachelor’s) in science communication, communication studies, media and communication management, journalism, or a comparable university degree
Experience in communication management, public relations, or science communication, ideally in a university or research setting
Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies, as well as conveying complex content in a way tailored to specific target audiences
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German, as well as good written and spoken English skills
Proficiency in using digital communication channels (website, social media, newsletters)
Organizational skills, creativity, and a flair for modern science communication
Knowledge of graphic design, layout, and image editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or comparable software)
Experience in planning and providing communication support for events is desirable
