Your responsibilities:

As a social media editor, you will be responsible for planning, creating, and publishing content tailored to specific target audiences on Humboldt University of Berlin’s main social media channels, as well as for community management. You will develop creative content ideas, ensure consistent communication, and strengthen the university’s digital presence through relevant and engaging posts.
Planning, producing, and publishing informative, target-audience-specific content (text, images, video) about the work of Humboldt University of Berlin (HU) for the university’s main social media channels
Managing and further developing HU’s central social media channels in close coordination with management
Monitoring, analyzing, providing regular reports, and optimizing reach
Conceiving and implementing social media campaigns as well as new creative formats
Community management: Responding to comments and messages and fostering engagement with various target audiences
Ensuring a consistent brand presence across all of HU’s social media channels
Advising other HU departments on social media use
Supporting and representing the online editorial team
Managing editorial content on the HU website

What you'll bring to the table:

A college degree in communication, media, journalism, public relations, marketing, or equivalent skills and experience
Several years of expertise in the day-to-day management of social media and online communications, ideally in the higher education sector
In-depth knowledge of the German higher education landscape—particularly in Berlin—as well as current issues in higher education policy
Creativity and a keen sense for digital trends, current topics, and their visual implementation
Proficiency in image, graphic, and video editing, as well as the use of image editing and layout software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, and Figma)
Experience with common content management systems (ideally TYPO3)
Fluency in spoken and written German (at least C1 level), strong writing skills, and excellent communication abilities
Very good spoken and written English (at least B2 level)
Experience with social media crisis communication
Strong teamwork skills, initiative, reliability, dedication, and a sense of responsibility
Willingness to work occasionally in the evenings or on weekends
