Technical Writer - Camping Technology & Accessories (m/f/d)

You will create high-quality operating instructions and technical documentation for our product range - from electrical expansion kits to camping accessories. Working closely with a Data Manager who is responsible for the XML, PIM and DAM infrastructure, your content will be the key basis for multilingual translation workflows - both through human and automated translation.This is a mid-level position for an experienced technical writer who can work independently while collaborating closely with the Product, Compliance and Digital teams. Your work will directly contribute to product safety, legal compliance and a professional brand presence across Europe.
Tasks
Documentation creation
- Writing clear, concise and well-structured operating instructions and assembly instructions in German and English.
- Applying standardized heading hierarchies, subtitle conventions and structured writing principles for efficient translation.
- Preparing complex technical information from suppliers and purchasing teams into user-friendly documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including CE-related documentation obligations, GPSR 2023/988 and relevant product safety standards.
Content systems & collaboration
- Working with the Data Manager on content integration and publishing to PIM and DAM systems.
- Support the evolution of documentation workflows towards more structured authoring formats, including XML-based and DITA-compliant approaches.
- Working with translation management systems and supporting multilingual output pipelines.
- Maintaining versioning, document history and clear naming conventions for instructions and technical documents.
- Text data cleansing for tagged content to support data governance and ensure data integrity.
Regulatory & technical expertise
- Reading, interpreting and implementing relevant industry standards and normative documents.
- Navigating complex interfaces between technical product specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Staying up to date with EU product safety legislation relevant to our product categories.
- Supporting internal stakeholders with documentation contributions for technical documentation, compliance documentation and risk-related materials.
AI & digital tools
- Use of LLM-based tools for content review, consistency checking and text optimization.
- Confident working in web and data environments including PIM, DAM and CMS platforms.
- Independent completion of assigned tasks with a high degree of autonomy - independent workload and documentation pipeline management without hidden dependencies towards other departments or stakeholders.
Profile
- Proven experience in technical writing, ideally in the manufacturing, automotive, outdoor or consumer goods industry.
- Native German or C1+ level; professional English skills.
- Basic familiarity with XML-based content (full XML authoring not required).
- Experience working with or alongside PIM and DAM systems.
- Strong ability to read and apply regulatory and standards documents.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with Product Management, Quality, Compliance and Digital.
- Background in technical communication, engineering or a technical trade with strong writing skills.
- Systematic, detail-oriented mindset with comfort in technically complex environments.
- Working knowledge of DITA or structured authoring concepts (oXygen, Arbortext or similar).
- Experience with translation management systems or CAT tools (e.g. Redokun, memoQ, SDL Trados).
- Personal interest in camping, campervans or vehicle technology.
- Familiarity with InDesign or similar desktop publishing tools.
